    Every Mum needs an Alice

Did you know that being a mum is hard work?  I’m not just talking about the physical aspects of becoming a mother, or the daily routines you have to succumb too to maintain sanity.  I am talking about the every day emotional and psychological aspects of being the mother you want for your kids – Its hard work!!! Mrs Carol Brady (The Brady Bunch) had the best gift ever!   She had an Alice.   Alice is every mother’s dream –  Alice took care of the Brady family, and gave the gift of time back to Mrs Brady.  She made their meals, their lunches for school, she did all aspects…

My Top 10 Hints for Simple Living

I recently ‘liked’ a page on facebook called ‘Old Sunshine Coast’ and I have felt very priviledged to have a birds eye view back to the past. I moved to the Sunshine Coast at a time in my life where I was single and completely and utterly responsible for myself. Some might consider those days ‘The good old days’, and I have to admit that I have moments where I miss that girl – but I am quickly reminded of how blessed I am to have the husband I have and the children I have. When I look at those old photos of the coast, I can’t help but think…

    Get Inspired!

Amy, our 11 year old daughter came home excited on Friday from school.   She wanted to show me a video of this ‘funny little kid who dresses like the President!’.  Amy was introduced to ‘Kid President’ at school, so we sat down at the computer together’, and before I knew it – I had four children crowding the computer.  Kid President is infectious! The Kid President puts a smile on your face straight away.   He has an infectious smile and a hilarious little laugh, and you can just see he has a fun personality. The Kid President’s mission: Is to give you a pep talk! and to help…

Urgency in the heart, or is it just the pending Midlife Crisis?!

Its Monday.   The First day of the second week of term 4 (2013).   After today, our school year has 7 weeks and 4 days left for the year – not that I am counting!   This week is also ‘week 43’ of the calendar year, and this means that we have 9 weeks and 5 days till the end of 2013. Before we know it, Christmas and January 2014 will be upon us. Isn’t this a sobering thought?  Time is flying past far too quickly for my liking. I woke today feeling a sense of urgency in my spirit. I’m still trying to work out exactly what the…

Back to School after a fun filled September Holidays

I can’t believe two weeks has passed since I blogged last!  Its true – time does go faster when you’re having fun!! Life in our house over the school holiday period was very fast and very fun, and because holidays are all about quality time with the kids, I really wanted to be present – in mind and spirit with them.   So, knowing how easy it is for me to go into ‘the Mischievious Mum’ world of blogging, I decided to put blogging on the back burner for the school holidays. It was time to have fun with the kids! We looked at my last blog post ‘How to…

How to keep out of Mischief on the School Holidays!

I am absolutely gobsmacked when I hear mums gripe about school holidays. I heard one mother at school ask why ‘they’ do it to us? As if schools are completely responsible for making holidays a negative or a painful experience for us parents.  Are school holidays really that traumatic for some parents? Everything in me wanted to answer this mother’s question of why, but I felt to stop myself. You see, I am a mum on the opposite side of the spectrum.  I love school holidays.  I love the adventure of planning our days, and working out how we can best spend our time.  I want the kids to have…

Living your Best Life – Nobody has it altogether!

Do you think its possible to ever get to a place where you actually have it altogether? I got a laugh out of this You tube video a friend of mine posted to facebook.   It depicts a family walking through the doors of their church –  Everyone turns to admire this family, because….’they have it all together’.   Little do their church family know how their morning went.  I encourage you to watch. It’s so easy to think that others have their lives sorted.  Its easy to believe that ‘others’ have it altogether, and its easy to feel as though we are the only ones who understand what it…

    Wheat Belly Quick Recap

In my last blog post I told you all about a book called  ‘Wheat Belly’, a book about  getting rid of wheat in our diets.  I am not going retell you the story of wheat belly, or what i have been learning about.   I will say though that if you would like to read about the idea behind Wheat Belly, please head over to http://wp.me/p3CidK-3eZ One of my wonderful readers informed me about a facebook page called Cut the crap which is now one of my favourite go-to resource.   Facebook also has a Wheat Belly page, which I find incredibly inspiring.   I have also learned over the last couple…
