    Disorganised Christmas Mum

It turns out that the word insanity can be defined as doing the same thing over and over trying to get a different result. Every year I vow that next year is going to be more organised with regard to Christmas shopping. I always think I have plenty of time, and every year I feel a little stressed leading up to Christmas day. I know I am not the only one because there are other crazed looking people at the shops also looking for the perfect gift for their indecisive teenagers. I am the mother of three daughters and a little boy, two are indecisive. I believe perfect is the…

    The Game of Life

One of our family’s favourite board games is ‘The Game of Life’.  I personally prefer the original version of the game, but after many years of play, we needed to update and buy the new version.  Unfortunately, the new version’s board is a lot smaller, and they have changed the format of the game.   I suppose that happens when we try to modernise something that doesn’t need modernising.   The only reason we decided to upgrade to the newer version was that our game was literally falling apart.   Pieces were missing and the board was broken.  Our trusty original ‘Game of Life’ had been thoroughly enjoyed and used…

    Christmas is coming!

Over the weekend we put up our Christmas tree! It was a wet overcast afternoon, and the kids were eager to put the tree up. It was the perfect day to put up our family Christmas tree.   We put my new favourite Christmas carol album on Spotify and enjoyed watching the kids put the decorations on the tree. By the way, my new favourite Christmas album is by a band called ‘For King and Country’.   This year I am pushing Michael Buble and Mariah Carey off the Spotify Christmas carol list. We usually wait till the first weekend of December to put up the tree, but not this…

    A Mischievious Christmas

Christmas is a season that should be enjoyed, happy memories made, and mums should not be locked in the kitchen preparing the meal while everyone else is having fun. Sadly, the Christmas period can be a stressful time in the year for many mums and it really shouldn’t be. My favourite mantra is ‘Keep It Simple’, because its important to get back to what Christmas is all about. Its about connecting with the people in our lives that are special to us. To ‘keep life as simple’ as possible, you must get yourself and your family organised. Everyone (including extended family) needs to be on the same page. The goal…

School holidays, reflecting on the past and looking to the future!

The Summer school holidays started with a bang! The count down to Christmas is on, and the excitement is starting to build.   In some ways it feels a little surreal – I know the holidays have started – but at the same time I feel that I have to pinch myself to believe that the holidays have actually arrived.  The end of year excitement is in the air and I love it.   Its my favourite time of the year. Christmas is everywhere, the days are longer, the nights are lovely.  It just a wonderful time of year. This time of year brings a lot of love to the…

    Get your Christmas Spirit on!

My life can’t get any busier at the moment.  It’s just not possible.    It’s the last week of school and I am so incredibly excited that the holidays are almost upon us.  I can smell the holidays and I am very excited!   Three O’Clock Thursday afternoon can not come fast enough.  Bring on the school holidays is all I can say!   Have I mentioned that I love school holidays!? As the school year comes to a close the Christmas season starts.   Not sure why I feel the two are different, but for me the Christmas season can only start when school is finishing.  Maybe its just…
