Daydreaming and Planning
Over the last few months I have been watching the job sites and putting in for jobs that I believe I can do. With the cost of living going up, the extra money would be incredibly helpful. The difficulty that I am having is that I have been a stay at home mum for a long time, and while yes I 100% believe our decision to have me at home with the kids was a good one overall for our family – it has come at a financial cost to our family. I wish we still lived in a world where stay at home mums were the norm rather than…

It’s Christmas Holidays and there’s no money for Fun….What to do??
The Christmas holidays are here. I love this time of the year. In fact, I consider it the best time of the year. It’s Summer, the days are longer, the kids are on holidays, and Christmas is just around the corner. It’s a great time of the year. The tree is up and the lights are bringing joy to our lounge room. I’m one of those mums who love school holidays with her kids and want the holidays to linger for as long as possible. This term has been enormous for us with an unexpected graduation dinner for our Beps, and then the year 12 formal and all the trimmings…

Winter Holidays 2019
The first week of the school holidays has flown by so quickly. It’s been quite a cold week, but we have been a little busy. Our youngest (8) wanted to try his hand at martial arts, so we found a spot for him at the Matt Fiddes class in Caloundra. He has just done a trial class so far, and has another one to go, but right now, he is smitten with the idea that he could possibly be the next ‘The Karate Kid’. Hubby watched the first movie with him last week, and he thoroughly enjoyed the antics of Mr Miyagi teaching the young Daniel Larusso the art of…

The Gallery of Modern Art Brisbane
Over the Easter school holidays we took the kids down to Brisbane and visited the Gallery of Modern Art. We really loved our little adventure and wished we got down to Brisbane sooner, as there was so much to see. I think we only just touched the surface. There really is something for everyone. No one will walk away disappointed. The effort to drive down to Brisbane was so worth it! We definitely want to go again. Next time though we will make a day of it, and make time to explore Southbank and go on one of the red ferries that travels along the Brisbane River – One of my…

Glamping Fun!
Last weekend we ‘Glamped’ at the Broadwater Tourist Park on the Gold Coast. We were going to camp, but we had a number of cold nights here, and I chickened out of camping in a tent because I really didn’t feel that we were set up to camp in the cold. I’m still keen to camp but now that I have experienced the cabin option, I’m in love with glamping. Our cabin number was 312. It was the first cabin along the beach front and we had the best view of the little beach, and our view to Sea World was lovely. Our weekend away was literally the most…

How to keep out of Mischief on the School Holidays!
I am absolutely gobsmacked when I hear mums gripe about school holidays. I heard one mother at school ask why ‘they’ do it to us? As if schools are completely responsible for making holidays a negative or a painful experience for us parents. Are school holidays really that traumatic for some parents? Everything in me wanted to answer this mother’s question of why, but I felt to stop myself. You see, I am a mum on the opposite side of the spectrum. I love school holidays. I love the adventure of planning our days, and working out how we can best spend our time. I want the kids to have…

Going on a bear hunt…
This is one of my kids favourite stories of all time… they love the Swishy Swashing! Splash Sploshing! Squelch Squerching! Stumble tripping! Hooo Wooooing! the Tiptoeing! that happens in the story. I love their excited faces as we reach the part of the story when we actually go into the cave and find the bear and have to do the whole adventure in reverse. Do you live your life in the hurried reverse of trying to get home before the bear gets you! In real life the bear may not be the bear itself, it might be ‘getting the kids to school on time’, ‘getting homework done’, ‘it might…
