    The Intentional Mother

    24 August 2016 /

If you’re a mother, you will have times when you feel intense overwhelm. Sometimes you will experience this overwhelm on a daily basis. We desire to be ‘Warrior women’, but instead some of us feel like ‘worriers’.  We quickly learn that there is so much more to being a mum than just surviving pregnancy and giving birth.  It fact, we are required to raise our children to be leaders in a world where we aren’t allowed to discipline. None of us want our children to turn out this way – do we? It is for this reason,  we choose to discipline our kids. It is also for this reason we lie…

    Did you bring your game?

    6 March 2015 /

I’m not sure when it started, but at some point in the last six weeks,  I started asking our girls each day if they are bringing their game to the table today! I mentioned it to my friend recently when she asked me how I get my kids motivated for school each day.    All I know is that whenever I ask this question, the kids work well, and when I don’t ask the question – we seem to have an average work day.    We’ve started calling it the ‘golden question’, because we really do feel that we have a good work day when I ask them if they are bringing their…

Life Choice: Phase – Stay at Home Mum

    18 October 2014 /

Have you ever had someone out of the blue ask you what your doing with your life? This week I had somebody ask me what I’m doing with my life?  I responded ‘Well, I am a mum of four and…’ and just as I was about to finish my sentence this person cut me off.   She seemed irritated by my half answer.  Suddenly I felt as though I was on the defence. This lady, who will remain nameless, growls “I know you are a mother, everything about you says ‘mother’, I want to know if ‘Sarah’ still lives in there?’.  She even used her quotation fingers!   I was stunned…

    Simplifying and Enjoying Motherhood

    22 May 2014 /

What do you do when you feel like you have lost your pizzazz, or your sparkle? Everything’s fine.   Except for one thing – I have been feeling as though my life is too busy, and this ‘busyness’ feeling stops me feeling connected and fully engaged with our kids. I’m not depressed, or blue. I just feel a little overwhelmed with how much there needs to be done on a daily basis to keep our household running smoothly, our children well, homework and school assessments in order, nutritious food on the table, the laundry in control, and all those other things that feel as though they need to have been done yesterday. When I…
