Embracing 40 with Style and Pizazz!
It was birthday week in our household this week – not just one birthday, but two! Amy officially became a teenager on Wednesday, so on Tuesday evening the rest of the family secretly blew up a pack of a 100 balloons so that Amy would wake to a room full of balloons. We only had a few balloon casualties along the way. The next morning, hubby and I smuggled approximately 96 balloons into Amy’s room before she woke up. We covered her bed with as many balloons that would stay on her bed, and then waited in the doorway to her bedroom for her alarm to go off, which didn’t take too long thankfully. Amy really…

Get Inspired!
Amy, our 11 year old daughter came home excited on Friday from school. She wanted to show me a video of this ‘funny little kid who dresses like the President!’. Amy was introduced to ‘Kid President’ at school, so we sat down at the computer together’, and before I knew it – I had four children crowding the computer. Kid President is infectious! The Kid President puts a smile on your face straight away. He has an infectious smile and a hilarious little laugh, and you can just see he has a fun personality. The Kid President’s mission: Is to give you a pep talk! and to help…

Raising Boys
I am the mother of four children – three girls and one little boy. While we planned and desired number four – when I was told the gender of the baby was going to be a boy, I have to admit that I panicked. A part of me was excited, but the other part of me was petrified. What the heck do you do with a boy? They are so different to girls. I have friends with boys and I must admit that I used to think how blessed I was to have girls. Their boys were strange, a little crazy, and did many things that…

Just a House wife, Are We?
I know that I am not the only woman who feels guilty if the house is messy. I don’t feel I can sit and write, or plan my next blog post or adventure, if my home is not how I like it. I realise that some mums can work and play around a messy home but I am just not one of these mums. This week, I watched ‘The Biggest Loser’. I had said that I wasn’t going to watch the show at all this year, but now that the contestants have stopped whinging and whining about exercise, accepted the trainers are there to help them and push…

Parenting war with Fancy dancey stationery shops
I have three girls who love a particular colourful stationery shop that has seemed to pop up into every large shopping centre over the last few years. This store is are everywhere! The girls love to go and explore the fresh notebooks, pencils, pens, erasers, sharpeners, calculators, and other merchandise in each varying colour. This store is very appealing to the young eye, and I have been told by one of my dear impressionable children that if you don’t buy your school supplies at this particular store – then your basically worthless! As you can imagine, this no frills mummy, was not impressed by this untrue statement. I…

Thank God Puberty Blues is almost over!
I am a mum of three daughters…one of them is just over 3 years off being a teenager. So when I heard that Michelle Mitchell, who is the sister of a friend from school, wrote a book called ‘What Teenage Girls Don’t Tell their Parents’, I shuddered at the thought that my baby girl, was going to become secretive and not tell me her most inner thoughts and plans, when she hit the teenage years. And then the show ‘Puberty Blues’ started. The ads were very explicit about the issue of teen girls, lying, sex, and basically being a royal ratbag. I was very quick to find myself changing the…

Putting a price on Fun!
A couple of weeks ago to buy the Myfun – Seaworld, Movieworld and Wet’n Wild tickets for the family. We haven’t done anything like that before, but we discovered yesterday that if you want to buy tickets at the gate (Movie World), you will be paying the hefty price of $79.95 for an adult for one day at the theme park, and $49.95 for children and concession tickets. Because of the cost involved for a large-ish family it made sense for us to buy the VIP MyFun Tickets – Myfun.com.au. We went to Movie world today and I learned a couple of things. I learned that Amy is…
