Birthday Fun on Noosa River
Now the kids, particularly the girls, are older and have jobs, it’s not so easy to get everyone together in one place to have a family day, so when we can make a day of it, any excuse is a good excuse to get us all together. It was hubby’s birthday on Sunday, so we decided to make a day of it up at Noosa. Noosa is special place on the Sunshine Coast, we are lucky to be able to go up for the day, enjoy the beauty of Noosa and then come home absolutely happy and fulfilled. I love the idea of staying up there too, but for all…

Change is Inevitable
So far I am pretty disappointed with 2024…. It’s not the year I hoped for after our chaotic and incredibly crazy 2023. Don’t get me wrong, outside of the fire, we had some amazing moments in 2023, but it was a difficult year for so many reasons, and I have to admit that I was looking forward to the idea of a brand new year as we reached the end of 2023. 2024 had a lovely ring to it. There is something nice in knowing that the incoming ‘new’ year had no marks on it yet, no spoilers, no mistakes, nothing to fear. This thought reminded me of Anne of…

And Suddenly It’s August
Hello August, The last few months have been quite the whirlwind! I feel as though the weeks and months have just simultaneously merged into one another. Somehow June slid straight into August…I know we had a number of events and things to do in July, but I’d only be able to tell you what they were if I went to the calendar. Turns out, time stands still for no one. Only a few days ago,10th August, the school marked 100 days left of grade 12 for Nell and her friends. Obviously a few days have gone by so as of today (15th August), we are left with 95 days till…

Learning Calmness
Well, term one of 2022 was much bigger than I anticipated it to be. I very naively went into the first term of the school year expecting to have a lot more time in my day to work through my very long To-do list. After seven years of homeschooling and always having someone with me, I was finally going to be childfree for 6 hours of the day. I was excited to have time on my own, and to have time to get my ‘To Do’ list done. My personal list of things that need doing or sorting out has been growing over the last few years, so I really…

Isolating At Home Holiday Ideas
Hello! Hope you’re doing well!? I was starting to feel the effects of the negative media chatter this week so I decided to drastically cut back on our ‘News’ intake. Almost instantly I started to feel calmer in myself. Limiting the noise is good for the soul. We now check on the news in the evening, and then get on with whatever we want to do after that. I miss the freedoms we had prior to what I like to call, ‘The global corona shutdown!’. I just want people to do the right thing, and do what we have been asked to do so this whole Corona Virus thing can…

The Art of Sudden Homeschooling
Hello! I was lying in bed this morning thinking about the early days of our homeschooling adventure. It was quite the learning the curve, let me tell you. Over the course of the first year, I second guessed myself numerous times. I wondered whether I had made the right decision for our kids. Many days I felt like a complete failure. It took some time for me to find my strides, and 5 years and a few months later, we still have great days, and we have days we would like to forget. The life of a homeschooling mum is very rewarding, but definitely not a walk in the park.…

Speaking to the Busyness
Can you believe we are 10 weeks into 2020!? I hate to say it, but I think 2020 is going to be one of those years that could get away from us if we don’t take it by the horns, make intentional decisions, put an action plan in place, and go for it. Imagine what we could do if we felt as though we could do anything?! I heard years ago that it takes 21 days to form a new habit, but Google says, ‘it takes an average of 66 days’. If Google is right, this means we really have to get a move on so that we can make…

20 For 2020
Hello!! It’s that time of the year again! We look at our lives and draw a line in the sand, 2019 has fallen away, and a new year has begun. I love the first few weeks of the new year. It kind of feels like the sins of the past have disappeared. They are all behind the fireworks. Once the New Years fireworks have decorated the night sky on January 1 12 am, a new year is born. A brand new year, with brand new opportunities and experiences, await us. Adults have to realise that we are allowed to dream. Dreaming is not just for kids, its for all of…
