The Start of our 50 cent Adventures
This week we had an unexpected adventure into Brisbane. Nell had a class excursion down to GOMA – Queensland Gallery of Modern Art to see the Iris Van Herpen exhibit. Being tertiary education there was no bus taking the group of students down to the exhibit so we decided to jump on the train and take advantage of the 50 cent fairs. While Nell was off being inspired by the Iris Van Herpen exhibit, I had a look at the State Library. It is definitely somewhere I would like to explore again. I think you could spend a whole day in there wondering around. There were so many things to…

Daydreaming and Planning
Over the last few months I have been watching the job sites and putting in for jobs that I believe I can do. With the cost of living going up, the extra money would be incredibly helpful. The difficulty that I am having is that I have been a stay at home mum for a long time, and while yes I 100% believe our decision to have me at home with the kids was a good one overall for our family – it has come at a financial cost to our family. I wish we still lived in a world where stay at home mums were the norm rather than…

Wanting the Van Life
Something has happened to me over the last few years……the long and the short of my story is that I would love to sell up and live the van life. I know that technically we aren’t ready as a family to do that. I think the kids would malfunction in a van, 6 sardines in a van really would not work very well, so its probably not a dream that can even be considered till the kids are off doing their own thing. Nonetheless, I am very much addicted to seeing what is available on Facebook marketplace. I am interested in a Mercedes sprinter van or a cute little boho…

It’s Christmas Holidays and there’s no money for Fun….What to do??
The Christmas holidays are here. I love this time of the year. In fact, I consider it the best time of the year. It’s Summer, the days are longer, the kids are on holidays, and Christmas is just around the corner. It’s a great time of the year. The tree is up and the lights are bringing joy to our lounge room. I’m one of those mums who love school holidays with her kids and want the holidays to linger for as long as possible. This term has been enormous for us with an unexpected graduation dinner for our Beps, and then the year 12 formal and all the trimmings…

The Gallery of Modern Art Brisbane
Over the Easter school holidays we took the kids down to Brisbane and visited the Gallery of Modern Art. We really loved our little adventure and wished we got down to Brisbane sooner, as there was so much to see. I think we only just touched the surface. There really is something for everyone. No one will walk away disappointed. The effort to drive down to Brisbane was so worth it! We definitely want to go again. Next time though we will make a day of it, and make time to explore Southbank and go on one of the red ferries that travels along the Brisbane River – One of my…

Gold Coast Holiday 2016 – The Q1
Since we last spoke, life got a little busy with end of year school related busyness and then we headed off to the Gold Coast for our family holiday. We had ten glorious days on the Gold Coast. I got a brilliant deal at the Q1 via an eBay deal. I know what your thinking, “You got a great holiday deal on eBay? That sound crazy!” Well yes it was crazy – but it was pretty awesome. I don’t like to brag but when it comes to getting brilliant deals, I must say that I have some amazing skills. Our 2 bedroom apartment was on the 32nd floor and we had amazing…

Become a Tourist in your own City!
The school holidays are here and I don’t think I have to remind you all that I am ‘one of those mums‘. I am a mother who loves the school holidays. I count the days down to the holidays and I put off thinking about going back to school till I absolutely have too. Not because I dislike homeschooling, I just want to enjoy every moment of the holidays we can finding the balance between relaxing and adventuring together. Sure we could jump in the car and head up to Aussie World or the Australia Zoo, and there is nothing wrong with those options, but the cost of entry for a…

Glamping Fun!
Last weekend we ‘Glamped’ at the Broadwater Tourist Park on the Gold Coast. We were going to camp, but we had a number of cold nights here, and I chickened out of camping in a tent because I really didn’t feel that we were set up to camp in the cold. I’m still keen to camp but now that I have experienced the cabin option, I’m in love with glamping. Our cabin number was 312. It was the first cabin along the beach front and we had the best view of the little beach, and our view to Sea World was lovely. Our weekend away was literally the most…
