The Last Term of the year

    9 October 2014 / 2 Comments

This year is flying by so fast! I can’t believe the September school holidays are over.  They seemed to fly by far too quickly. Term 4 started on Tuesday, and Amy who is in year 6 bought home an assignment criteria sheet for her next piece of assessment.    I had hoped that we could slide through the first week of school without homework or assignments – but no such luck. Denial is not an easy place to live for a mum.  I could pretend we were still on holidays, but I am choosing to embrace what comes at us with poise and grace, after all, the Christmas holidays aren’t too far…

Decluttering and Making Room for a Better Life.

    18 September 2014 / 4 Comments

This decluttering streak I am on is going well.  I have completely un-babied our home, and I have moved on to other areas of the house.  Its been going very well. Actually, I’ll correct myself here, it WAS going very well.  I started going through the book case and found Gretchin Rubin’s book ‘Happier at Home’ on the bookshelf, and lets just say that I got a teeny bit distracted. The issue here is that I have a thing for books.   I have always loved reading, and I have always found it difficult to pass on books.  I can only imagine how hard it would be for a fashionista to…

The Brand New Shiny Door – A nappy free life!

    16 September 2014 / 0 Comments

Recently Jaden officially became a big boy!  He ditched the ‘baby’ nappies and decided to embrace undies whole heartedly.   It was a joyous moment in our household – I celebrated for days (truthfully I am still celebrating)!   I was going to mention our new no nappy household a couple of weeks ago, but then I decided not too just in case it was a 3 1/2 year olds trick on his mother – I decided to wait and see how it went.  I wanted to make sure that this no nappy phase in our lives was a real thing and not an illusion. I must admit,  I was really nervous about Jaden not…

Mischieviousmum does the 100 day challenge!

    10 September 2014 / 0 Comments

Its day three and boy have the last two days been challenging! I am one of those people who lives her life by flying by the seat of my pants.  I tend to react to situations that arise rather than respond – something I really want to change.   I have written many times about my plans for world domination, well, my goal to simplify my life and make time to relax and read, but sometimes its very hard to climb out of any rut.     This is partly why I made the decision to start a 100 day challenge.   The other part was that I felt inspired by…

    Spring in my Step!

    4 September 2014 / 0 Comments

Spring is here at last (insert happy dance here). I don’t know about you, but for me winter felt as though it would never end. It was a very long three months this year. I don’t know if I can fully express to you my excitement for Spring. Over the last couple of weeks I caught a chest infection and tonsillitis, which took me out of the game of life for a couple of weeks, and believe me it has not been fun.  Kicking illness to the curb is like a Spring present, after all, there’s nothing worse than a sick mum.  Households don’t function well when mum is down for…

    Depression. Arthritis of the Soul

    13 August 2014 / 2 Comments

Yesterday as we learned of Robin Williams death, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about him or his family. I may not have known Robin Williams or his family personally, but I have met the numerous characters he has played across many television shows and movies.   I grew up watching Mork and Mindy, Mrs Doubtfire, and so many other movies Robin Williams was apart of.  He was a treasured member of the Disney family.  Its hard for me to fathom a man with so much public charisma, feeling so depressed and anxious that his only answer to life is death.   As news reports continue to cross our airways about his life…

    Raising Techy kids

    6 August 2014 / 3 Comments

Technology has changed our world on so many levels. I can’t imagine our world now without laptops, iPads/tablets, iPods and smartPhones. I can’t imagine life without wifi….God forbid we still lived in a world with dial up internet,  or NO internet at all?!! I can’t imagine life without the many apps I use on a daily basis.  I don’t know about you, but these days I have a very happy codependent relationship with google – a relationship I have no desire to break off. Hubby is very tech savvy, and I love the world of blogging, wordpress, photography, and social media, so it’s very easy to understand why our kids…

Finding my sense of style. Check!

    3 August 2014 / 0 Comments

Are you a fan of the show Offspring? I wasn’t really a fan as such, until recently when I had the flu and was in desperate need of a television fix.   There was nothing on at all so I turned to catch-up television online.   All I wanted was something to watch to dull the flu symptoms, and so it was at this time that I stumbled across a couple of episodes of Offspring.  While I don’t race to watch it when its on, I have since decided that I really like the main character Nina’s quirky personality.  I also like her funky sense of style. Between you and me, I…
