A Glance Back on 2023
If I were to choose a song that represents the year 2023 for me, I would have to probably start with songs like ‘I’m still standing’ by Elton John, or maybe ‘Ain’t no mountain high enough’ by Diana Ross. The song I probably turned on to listen to the most this year is Phil Wickham’s acoustic version of ‘Battle Belongs’. This year I felt that this song brought a sense of calm to the chaos that was happening around me. When I closed my eyes and let the music wash over me, it was evident that despite what was going on in my world, I felt relatively calm. 2023 has…

A Place called Home
Our home is our sanctuary. A sacred place. ‘Home’ is not just where we rest our heads at night, or a storehouse for our belongings. It is where we live, relax, work, and where we enjoy family and friends. Home doesn’t have to be the perfect house, it is where we feel settled, safe and peaceful. So when something happens to our home, it can really shake us and make us feel unsettled, no longer safe or at peace. Recently, we had our world shaken. We are all fine, thankfully… Just over a month ago we had an electrical fire in our daughters bedroom. I had taken the kids to…

22 for 2022
And just like that plans change…or do they? There is something very special about the start of a brand new year. The fireworks smell lingers in the air for a few days, and as we all get used to writing the new year – 2022 instead of 2021, I like to start thinking about what I would like the coming year too look like. I love this time of year, I love the newness of a new year. The idea that a fresh page is set before us is appealing. Anything is possible, What will this new year will bring us? The question I like to ask is ‘What would…

Happy New Year!
Merry Christmas and welcome to a brand new year! We are now six days in, and I must say that I have a very good feeling about this coming year. We decided to start planning events and adventures we can look forward to over the course of the coming year! I’ll admit that I was in a hurry to finish 2021, and it was so lovely to finish the year with good friends down at Mooloolaba and of course the fireworks! There is something very special about fireworks and friendship! I believe whole heartedly that 2022 is going to be a great year. Last year was a good year in…

What do you want?
Has anyone ever asked you ‘what do you want in life?’ If so, did you stop and really think and consider the question? Did you answer the question? What do you want? I have been listening to a lot of Bob Goff videos lately. I love how Bob Goff talks, and how upbeat he is. He has a lot of really good advice on living life well, encourages us all to go on adventurous, and to find creative ways to be kind to the people in our lives, and those who live in our neighbourhood. He oozes happiness! Bob Goff lives a big life. He is a lawyer, a philanthropist,…

Finding that Life Harmony!
One thing I really like to do is read about how other people in other countries in the world live their lives. For instance, in Denmark, they regularly practice a custom they call hygge (hoo-gah). If you are wondering what this is, it simply means ‘getting cosy’. Essentially hygge is about creating a sensory pleasing space in our homes that help us relax. The Danes make a daily decision to look after themselves, de-stress, and get comfortable or cosy. Imagine coming home after a day at work, putting on something a little more comfortable, flicking on some music, lighting a candle, pouring a glass of wine, making a…

Know your Why?
Knowing why we do life the way we do it, is one of the most important questions we can ask ourselves. As someone who tries to simplify my life on a regular basis, I find that I often ask myself the why question. Many days I ask myself ‘What am I doing!?’ Sometimes daily, sometimes multiple times a day!! To find that inner calm in our daily walk, we need to figure out how best to live our lives simply. This is an ongoing process or adventure for me. What I know to be true is this. Good advice is not helpful when you don’t know what your…

Keep it Simple 2018
Hello January!!! I must say that I am very happy that 2017 has gone. The new year is very welcome. The line has been drawn in the sand. The old has gone and the new is here. It is time to move forward and not look backwards. One of my favourite podcast series is called, ‘Happier with Gretchen Rubin’. A podcast that talks about intentionally adding happiness into our lives. Gretchen and her sister Elizabeth Craft, are now up too episode 150, and over the last few episodes have been talking about creating a ‘18 for 2018’ list of things you want to do, achieve, or…
