Taking Stock – October 2017
What a month! October has been a good month. Seems life takes interesting turns at times. A turn we didn’t expect we would have to deal with this month, was that our hot water system decided to die, and had to be replaced. I was thankful it didn’t happen mid shower! It is now done, and it is nice to be on the other side of the issue. So here we are again, at the end of another month. I feel as though I blinked and the month of October came to an end quicker than it started. This is Taking Stock – October 2017.…

Daring to Love
Last Sunday morning at church, we dropped our two younger kids in at kids church and grabbed our seats. The music was playing and as I looked around the room my eyes landed on the elderly couple in the seats in front of us to the right. I found myself watching them. I couldn’t help watch the way the gentleman held his arm around his wife, how he supported her while standing and worshipping God together. It was a gorgeous sight to behold. I hope and pray we are like that down the track. The reward to working hard in our marriage was right there in front…

Taking Stock – September 2017
Making : I don’t have time to make anything, but our youngest daughter is continually surprising us with her creative abilities. Our middle daughter loves to bake so there is often a sweet smell coming from our kitchen, Our eldest is going from strength with her love of learning the guitar. Our awesome boy loves to bash nails into timber, and make a bit of a mess! Cooking : Lots of survival meals this month. Curried chicken with rice, spaghetti bowl, salads with chicken. While I love the idea of trying new recipes, I haven’t really had a chance this month. Drinking : Always Soda water and…

Taking Stock – August 2017
I’m not quite ready to say good bye to August, but that seems to be out of my control. I will say though that I am pretty thrilled with the idea that as I publish this post, it will only be a few hours till we can say hello to Spring. Spring is absolutely my favourite season of the year, and I am not exactly sure how to hide my enthusiasm. So lets get started… Making : Art is an important subject in our homeschooling life. Over the last week we have been attempting to paint rocks using mandala techniques. Lets just say that we need to…

A More Balanced Life
A number of months ago we decided to start going to church again after 10 years of not going. We decided Calvary Christian Church would be our new home church. It probably sounds a little weird to call a church ‘home’, but Calvary isn’t new to me, and I feel that it has that homely, right place – feel to me. I feel as though my life is more in balance when I go to church. Years ago, when I first moved to the Sunshine Coast, I started going to the church. Back then, it was called Buderim Mountain Assembly. I have a few friends still from that…

Taking Stock – July 2017
I love this time of the month. I especially love writing my ‘Taking Stock – 2017’posts. If you are wondering where I got the idea of Taking Stock each month, well you can thank Pip Lincoln, who writes an awesome blog called ‘Meet me at Mikes’. Not sure how we got to the end of July – this year is going a little too fast for me. So here we go….July 2017. Making : I have lots of ideas, but not enough time at the moment. Making anything besides dinner is off the list of priorities at the moment. There’s always August! Cooking :…

Living Life Passionately
It’s funny how the topic of death makes you think a lot about life. Well, I find it at least ‘interesting’. When a family member or friend dies, I find I go through a time of deep self-analysis. I think most people do! I find myself thinking about what I believe. I also think about what my life looks like right now, what’s important to me, and what changes I would like to make? Often, what do I want to be remembered for? None of us know when we are going to die, or how we are going to die! God knows, of course, but we aren’t privileged…

Life, ey!
Life, ey! Just when you think everything is travelling well…LIFE happens. Family Life is busy, messy, adventurous, fun, challenging, stressful, imperfect, loving and crazy. There is always a lot happening, a lot to juggle and a lot to make work – And with all this going on, parents have the responsibility of raising strong, resilient, kind, happy, and well adjusted kids into well adjusted, happy, kind, responsible adults. For many mums, our identity is wrapped up in our kids succeeding or failing in life. We feel as though we have done a great job when our kids do well, but when our kids struggle in life, it is so easy…
