    Friendship: The Gift of Grace

    30 August 2020 / 0 Comments

Today I was talking to a friend about how easy it is for mums to neglect friendships when we are giving out so much to our family’s. I don’t like or want to neglect my friends, but sometimes family life, and the mental load of mum life overrun my deepest desire to be the best friend I can be to my friends. I’m trying to improve the mental load aspects of my life so I can be a better friend to my friends. The most amazing thing about friendship, true friendship, is grace. All relationships need grace, and it is this grace that allows us to be our vulnerable selves…

    Believing in Friendship

    2 March 2018 / 0 Comments

Stories are a wonderful way to make a point.   Children and adults alike can relate to stories, and as a parent I find that I am always looking for ways to teach my kids about resilience and such things. Have you heard of the story of the Tiny Green Frog before? I did not write this cute little story, but I’d like to be able to write stories like it one day.  I found it very meaningful,  I haven’t been able to find it online again to see who the author is!  I will continue to look though. Once upon a time, there was a group of tiny frogs…

    Are you Happy?

    13 April 2013 / 9 Comments

Last night a friend of mine and I attended the screening for the Happy Movie.  A documentary type movie about what actually makes people happy.  It was quite an amazing and interesting journey from the psychology and physiology of happiness, to the environment in which we live, the people around us, our personal and professional successes, to the culture that we live in.   There are so many components to what makes us happy. The question of happiness and what makes us happy is a complex and somewhat personal question. The Happy Movie was initiated by a director/producer in the United States – Tom Shadyac (who produced Patch Adams, the…

Mummy friendships – what not to do!

    10 November 2012 / 1 Comment

Much of life is about the people we come into contact on a regular basis.   Some are friends and some you consider aquaintances so I decided to work out a list of characteristics or traits to have in friendship – specifically friendship with other mums. I have known a particular woman for many years.   This person seems to follow me through life, and while she has made her mark on my life in a negative way I am not writing this to get revenge.  Instead, I would like to write about  my experience with this woman in the light of not wanting to be a friend like this. Let…
