    The Intentional Mother

    24 August 2016 / 6 Comments

If you’re a mother, you will have times when you feel intense overwhelm. Sometimes you will experience this overwhelm on a daily basis. We desire to be ‘Warrior women’, but instead some of us feel like ‘worriers’.  We quickly learn that there is so much more to being a mum than just surviving pregnancy and giving birth.  It fact, we are required to raise our children to be leaders in a world where we aren’t allowed to discipline. None of us want our children to turn out this way – do we? It is for this reason,  we choose to discipline our kids. It is also for this reason we lie…

    New Year. New School 2015

    13 February 2015 / 0 Comments

This year is shaping up to be a good one for our family…and its quite exciting!! We decided at the end of 2014 that we would be making a massive change in 2015.   There are numerous reasons for this decision, but our Bethy is the main reason for making this change. Bethy struggles academically, and has done so since she started school.  She’s always been young for her age, and this year she’s in year six (the last year of primary school).  School life has been challenging for Bethy, and we have had many friendship issues along the way.   On many occasions, over the years, Bethy would climb into the car at…

    Our Children are like Butterflies

    1 May 2013 / 3 Comments

The other night I attended an information night at our school for the year five class who have started a program to help build resilience in our children. The program is called ‘Friends for Life’.   Personally I believe that this program should be adapted to start in the early primary years, as it is a program that helps kids work through anxiety,  frustration, fear, feelings of depression and also how to be a  friend.  Well, ‘how to be a friend’ is more of a side benefit to knowing how to deal with these other issues. I am a true believer in that it takes a number of sources to…

The Easter Holidays are about to start….3 hours to go!

    28 March 2013 / 0 Comments

Wahooo!!! In just a few short hours I will be picking up my three adorable cherubs from school and saying Sayōnara to school life for 2 weeks.   I am very excited!  If you know me, you will  know that I am one of those parents who just loves school holidays.   I see school holidays as my opportunity to have fun with the kids.  It’s an opportunity to relax and make some memories with the kids.  I find it incredibly amusing how many mothers dread the school holidays, I must seem somewhat crazy to these mums – but I love holidays! Having four kids does make holiday time somewhat expensive,…

Thank God its Friday, and making the most of where we live!

    2 November 2012 / 0 Comments

I am a naughty mummy.  I am completely and disgracefully guity of…..taking for granted the beauty to which I live.  Right now I am sitting here at Gloria Jeans enjoying the outdoors, enjoying the view, watching the people wander by!  I wander how many of these strangers, in their different levels of attire live their lives here on the Coast, or are they visitors from other areas?  I wander how many live on the coast here, and how many take it for granted?  Like me? I actually feel bad that I don’t make it a priority to enjoy the Sunshine Coast as much as I possibly can – I even…

Review: The Diary of the Wimpy Kid – Dog Days

    24 September 2012 / 0 Comments

So I know your all wondering what I thought of this movie?   Dion and I decided that we would take the kids to the 6:40pm session at the Caloundra Cinemas tonight as we have an almost 10 year old who has loved the Wimpy kid series and was so looking forward to Dog Days coming out. Its the start of the September school holidays and we usually start the break off with a bit of a bang!  Well a movie! How would I review it?   Well, lets just say that I didn’t enjoy it as much as I enjoyed the first two movies in the series.  Yes there…

    Sleep Over Tents…Aren’t these great

    30 August 2012 / 0 Comments

I would love to make these for the kids…and have a few spare for when we have friends over or cousins come…in fact, I would love to make one of these for all the little cousins coming. I have been looking at ‘how to make a ‘tee pee’ but I think I love this idea far more than a tee pee.   I don’t know which of my kids would love theirs more…but I know without a shadow of a doubt that I know that all of them would love it.    I also like the fact that these Sleep over tents would fold and store away easily.    …

    Going on a bear hunt…

    30 August 2012 / 0 Comments

This is one of my kids favourite stories of all time… they love the Swishy Swashing! Splash Sploshing! Squelch Squerching! Stumble tripping!  Hooo Wooooing! the Tiptoeing! that happens in the story.    I love their excited faces as we reach the part of the story when we actually go into the cave and find the bear and have to do the whole adventure in reverse. Do you live your life in the hurried reverse of trying to get home before the bear gets you!  In real life the bear may not be the bear itself, it might be ‘getting the kids to school on time’,  ‘getting homework done’, ‘it might…
