Making time for Mummy!
This past weekend, was probably the best weekend I have had in a long time. Sorry, Family! And…when I tell you what I got up too…..lets say you might be a little envious! Sorry, Readers!!!! I have been married for 11 years. It will be 12 in December, and since getting married – hubby and I have had four children. Three girls and one little boy! I have been a ‘Stay at Home Mum’ for a very long time now, and while I feel that it has been a privilege, I also see that I now need to follow my heart, and do something that will help us financially,…

Are our kids spoilt?
I have to admit that as I write this blog post I am still thinking about the title . I know that many kids in todays society are spoilt, but the question I ask – are my children spoilt? Last weekend, the Weekend Sunrise team interviewed Hattie Garlick. Hattie is a mum in the U.K. who has started writing a blog called www.freeourkids.co.uk. The purpose for this blog is to document her son’s progress over the next twelve months. This blog has gone globally crazy, not because she is another parent blogging about her two year son, but because she has declared that she and her…

The Universe Says NO!
The sun….the same sun that usually lights up the Sunshine Coast, is missing in action. Its dreary, rainy and quite miserable outside. Not sure who names a cyclone, Oswald, but this Oswald character has and is causing havoc on the Queensland Coastline. Chanel is six and does not like school. She would much prefer to be home playing or going on ‘excursions’ as she puts it. I am unsure as to where she heard the terminology, but her fabulous comment this weekend is ‘The Universe must hate that school is starting back on Tuesday!’. ‘Ozziewuld’, as she calls Oswald ‘obviously hates that we are going back to school –…

Jaden’s Birthday….the Birthday Month.
Last Saturday was Jaden’s second birthday, and it is a family tradition to have cake. I’m no cake boss, but I do have a fetish for decorating cakes, so as you can imagine Jaden’s birthday cake was not going to be two cakes slapped together with cream and jam – or sprinkled with icing sugar. Not that there is anything wrong with such a cake! Jaden loves dinosaurs so Bethy and I set out to come up with a simple concept for a little boy who loves dinosaurs. Last Saturday we celebrated two birthdays – Jaden and Charlotte. Charlotte is 8 days younger than Jaden. Charlotte isn’t into…

Its 2013….Happy New Year!!!
It has been 10 days since 2012 finished and 2013 started, and I have spent the last ten days getting organised, sorted, appointments, and really enjoying my kids. Jaden’s second birthday is on the 12th so I have organised a little birthday morning tea for him and his little cousin Charlotte who is 8 days younger than him. I have also spent time writing – not just for my blog (not yet published as I have been juggling the must do, with the want to do), but planning 2013 and action plans too boot! This week hubby went back to work, and while I was sad the holidays…

Grandparents!
Recently the Sunrise Weekend show on channel 7 shared James K Flannigan’s letter to his grandchildren. Mr Flannigan’s letter really enriched my life and is very special – so I wanted to share it with my readers. As 2012 comes to a close, and 2013 begins, I felt it appropriate to share. I hope that this letter enriches your lives as it has mine. Happy New Year to all my readers. I sincerely hope that you have a fantastic 2013. On Sept. 3, 2012, James K. Flanagan of West Long Branch, N.J., died unexpectedly of a heart attack. He wrote this letter to his five…

The Rubber meets the Road…Its time to get serious for 2013!
December 2012 is coming to a close. In five more sleeps it will be new years eve, and then it will be the 1st of January 2013. The first of January is symbolic. It is the day that most people start thinking about what they want for their lives, and what they want to change. They start to put a goal list together. Most of us make ‘good intention’ promises to ourselves – the plan is to do better and be better. We have good intentions, but new plans or new convictions for our lives can not stand up too good intentions. Unfortunately good…
