Disorganised Christmas Mum

It turns out that the word insanity can be defined as doing the same thing over and over trying to get a different result.

Every year I vow that next year is going to be more organised with regard to Christmas shopping. I always think I have plenty of time, and every year I feel a little stressed leading up to Christmas day.

I know I am not the only one because there are other crazed looking people at the shops also looking for the perfect gift for their indecisive teenagers. I am the mother of three daughters and a little boy, two are indecisive.

I believe perfect is the enemy of good, so the goal at this late stage is no longer the perfect gift, it’s going to be a gift that we think they will enjoy. I will definitely tell you after Christmas what we have decided on, I just don’t want to give away our idea before Christmas Day, just in case the girls read my blog. I know one of them looks at my blog from time to time, so I don’t want the few ideas I do have to get out before they open their gifts on Christmas Day!

The easiest person to buy for is our 9 year old. He had two pages of things he wanted. We got one thing on his list and one thing he will end up enjoying as he gets more confidence.

We had a wonderful holiday on the Gold Coast at the start of December, so we are only getting a couple of things for the kids. Truthfully, kids don’t really need a whole bunch of presents under the tree. They just need something. Normally I try to do the something to read, something to wear, something they want concept, but this year we decided to just have two things under the tree, and we aren’t spending any more than our budget per child.

Outside of my disorganisation, I love being with my family. Hubby doesn’t go back to work till early January so it is lovely to have time together as a family. 2020 has been a big year in so many ways. We have definitely had our own personal eyebrow raising moments this last year, So I am personally very happy to be at the very end of such a massive year. We are 12 days away from 2021, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. I want to enjoy this moment in time in our lives. It is about enjoying and creating memories with the people we call family and friends right now. I am so grateful for who we have in my life, life is short and we need to appreciate what we have now.

Merry Christmas!!
See you on the other side!
