    Know your Why?

Knowing why we do life the way we do it, is one of the most important questions we can ask ourselves. As someone who tries to simplify my life on a regular basis, I find that I often ask myself the why question.  Many days I ask myself ‘What  am I doing!?’  Sometimes daily, sometimes multiple times a day!! To find that inner calm in our daily walk, we need to figure out how best to live our lives simply.   This is an ongoing process or adventure for me. What I know to be true is this.   Good advice is not helpful when you don’t know what your…

    Easter Holidays 2018

On Thursday, tomorrow, the first school term of the year will be finished, and the holidays will start. YAY! If you know me, you will know that I love the school holidays. I’m a homeschooling mum so it does make sense that I love the school holidays, but, if you have known me for some time, you will know that I have always been one of those mums who loves school holidays! I like to find that nice balance between lots of activities, getting a few things done at home, and relaxing. It’s not always easy to find that balance, but its always good to write a few ideas down…

    I Can Only Imagine

This last weekend we took our two older girls to see the new movie ‘I Can Only Imagine’. Bart Millard, from Christian band ‘Mercy Me’, many years ago wrote a song called ‘I Can Only Imagine’ after his father died. His father was quite an abusive man when Bart was growing up, and as a result, Bart left home as soon as he physically could. Every kid wants a loving relationship with their father. There is a need inside of every child that aches for that special relationship with their dad. They want to be cared for, and nurtured specifically by their father. Bart would try to please his father,…

    Intentional Romance 2.0

The best thing about a rainy day is curling up to a great book or watching a movie.   This time it was the sequel to the Big Fat Greek Wedding movie.   I normally don’t like sequels, but I really loved the original movie, so I thought I would give it a go. I’m not going to tell you all about the movie and spoil it for everyone who wants to see it, but I am going to tell you about the one line in the movie that gave me a little shove, and reminded me that we (the majority of mums) need to make more of an effort in…

    Believing in Friendship

Stories are a wonderful way to make a point.   Children and adults alike can relate to stories, and as a parent I find that I am always looking for ways to teach my kids about resilience and such things. Have you heard of the story of the Tiny Green Frog before? I did not write this cute little story, but I’d like to be able to write stories like it one day.  I found it very meaningful,  I haven’t been able to find it online again to see who the author is!  I will continue to look though. Once upon a time, there was a group of tiny frogs…

    Simplify life 2.0

We were created to live amazing and purpose filled lives! I find this thought quite exciting. AND…. We live at a time in history where anything is possible! We have so many opportunities at our fingertips these days, and while this is wonderful, it can be a little overwhelming. There always seems to be a lot happening, and a lot that needs to be done. As a result of this overwhelming busyness, I am becoming more and more aware of our need for quite times. The need for complete quietness –  No background noise, no television, no social media, no computer or phone, just time to sit, think and reflect. …

    School Life is Back 2018

The first school term of the year is well and truly underway! Only seven weeks and two days till the next set of holidays.  Not that I am counting – (I so am!!) This year our third child, our Daughter Nelly, started high school.  This is a big deal.  We have three daughters in high school now! I personally don’t like that year 7 is now considered high school.  Nelly doesn’t turn 12 till the end of May, she still loves playing Barbie and with her LOL Surprise Dolls.     She is still a little girl at heart, and I don’t want her to feel as though she has…

    Soul Searching January

What an amazing first month of the year! 2018 has gotten off to a great start! The end of the holidays are closing in on us sadly.  These holidays have been a wonderful time for our family.   We have spent quality time together and this in itself has been what I call, priceless!!  Time together is what we needed. Family time + Quality time = Closeness, and the opportunity to do some soul searching! Soul searching gives us an opportunity to assess our lives, make some new decisions, come to terms and make peace with what or who we have lost (specifically people who have left our lives), and…
