An Update about our Homeschooling Adventure

    1 November 2016 / 1 Comment

Homeschooling.   Some days I love it.  Some days I don’t.    I’m only human! Its quite a funny mix bag of responses that I get when people ask why my kids aren’t in school.   Some people are really encouraging and say things such as ‘I really admire mums who can homeschool – I’d love to do it but my kids are happy in school’ or ‘I don’t think I could do it, but good for you’.   Some back peddle out of the conversation quickly as though I am going to preach at them as to all the benefits of homeschooling – which I don’t, but I will answer peoples questions!  Some close down the…

    Embrace – Love your body!

    1 November 2016 / 1 Comment

Last week a friend of mine and I attended the ‘Embrace’ documentary movie at the Maroochydore Cinemas. I love a good documentary movie.   That is, a documentary that takes you on a journey to understanding.   A journey to see life from a different perspective.    Taryn Brumfitt, the woman who made the documentary movie, really is amazing.  The reason behind doing the documentary was to help create a world where women stopped hating their bodies, and started loving their bodies – no matter the shape or size. What I loved about the Embrace movie? I loved that Taryn put herself in the documentary.  She didn’t just narrate the story – she…

    Day 29 September Photo Challenge

    29 September 2016 / 0 Comments

It was beautiful.  There aren’t any words that can describe how wonderful it was to put my feet in the sand and look out on the water.   I have to work out a way that I can take this home with me .   The beach is my happy place.  It’s the place where I feel most centred and most calm.   My favourite time of day is early in the morning just as the sun is peaking over the horizon.  The air is crisp and as the waves gently crash onto the shore line.   All is well in the world.

We took the kids to see the new Stork movie.  I’m not a big fan of animated films but I must say that I did enjoy this one. The kids love all the cinema posters and cardboard structures so of course we took photos!!

Day 24 – September Photo Challenge

    24 September 2016 / 0 Comments

This quote is the very first paragraph in the introduction page of Brene Brown’s book, ‘The Gifts of Imperfection’.  I think as women – Mums, it is easy to feel as though we are always trying to catch up,  and ‘sometimes’ we can feel inferior to others around us who ‘appear’ to have it all together. I have learned that most women feel the same.  Many of us connect in our imperfections.   Most of us are just doing our best, and when we compare ourselves to where others are in their lives, we lose our way. I would love to hear how you feel when you read this quote?

Today we pick up daughter 2 and 3 from camp.   They attended a three night four day music adventure camp at bribie island this week and had a ball.    I don’t think they have stopped talking about camp.   It’s great to have them home!

How to make yourself a Priority!

    19 September 2016 / 0 Comments

Well, I must say that I have been thinking about this blog post for a while.   In fact, I have tried to write it numerous times, and every time I try I get the giggles because I am very much a work in progress.   I believe in the sentiment of making time for myself whole heartedly, but I often find it difficult to put the concept of ‘ME TIME’ into action. I laugh because the last time I was about to take time out for myself and read my book,  my gorgeous boy accidentally peed on the floor. He was engrossed in what he was playing, he left going to the toilet to the…
