    Learning Calmness

Well, term one of 2022 was much bigger than I anticipated it to be. I very naively went into the first term of the school year expecting to have a lot more time in my day to work through my very long To-do list. After seven years of homeschooling and always having someone with me, I was finally going to be childfree for 6 hours of the day. I was excited to have time on my own, and to have time to get my ‘To Do’ list done. My personal list of things that need doing or sorting out has been growing over the last few years, so I really…

    Happy Mother’s Day

Its Mother’s Day on Sunday! Many mums look at their lives and analyse how they’re doing in their role as a mother. Some days I feel great about motherhood.  Other days I thank God we all survived the day!  Most days I move through the day feeling cool and calm like ‘Mary Poppins’, other days when I feel overwhelmed and out of sorts I feel a little like ‘Bruce Banner’ on a stressful day. I have discovered that Motherhood = Imperfection! And while many will disagree with me when I say that imperfection is okay.  This thought is what helps me when I have 4 baskets of clothing waiting to be…

    Happiness, Habits and Hobbies

Recently, I listened to one of my many favourite podcasts ‘Straight and Curly’ with kelly Exeter and Carly Jacobs, who were talking about how important it is to have hobbies.   At the time I was quick to react with some quick ‘I don’t have time for any hobbies!’ type of remark. And then I had a moment of feeling blue, until it suddenly occurred to me that I do in fact have hobbies! I enjoy writing on my blog and taking photos.  I also love to read, listen to podcasts and watch movies.   I like to go walking on the beach, making sandcastles with the kids, garage sales and…

    The Intentional Mother

If you’re a mother, you will have times when you feel intense overwhelm. Sometimes you will experience this overwhelm on a daily basis. We desire to be ‘Warrior women’, but instead some of us feel like ‘worriers’.  We quickly learn that there is so much more to being a mum than just surviving pregnancy and giving birth.  It fact, we are required to raise our children to be leaders in a world where we aren’t allowed to discipline. None of us want our children to turn out this way – do we? It is for this reason,  we choose to discipline our kids. It is also for this reason we lie…

A Mothers work is never done!

When school returned three weeks ago, I assumed I would gain time to write, and accomplish a few things on my mummy list, but also a number of things on my ‘Things Sarah wants to accomplish list’. Oh, how wrong I was! Two out of the three girls settled back into school life well – and quickly.   Our beautiful middle daughter, has found learning difficult, and while we are helping her at home, She also receives learning support at school, Bethy’s self confidence needs a little work, so we have been having lots of chats about how joy comes from within, and no one can make her happy, Bethy…

    Every Mum needs an Alice

Did you know that being a mum is hard work?  I’m not just talking about the physical aspects of becoming a mother, or the daily routines you have to succumb too to maintain sanity.  I am talking about the every day emotional and psychological aspects of being the mother you want for your kids – Its hard work!!! Mrs Carol Brady (The Brady Bunch) had the best gift ever!   She had an Alice.   Alice is every mother’s dream –  Alice took care of the Brady family, and gave the gift of time back to Mrs Brady.  She made their meals, their lunches for school, she did all aspects…
