    Happy Mother’s Day

Its Mother’s Day on Sunday! Many mums look at their lives and analyse how they’re doing in their role as a mother. Some days I feel great about motherhood.  Other days I thank God we all survived the day!  Most days I move through the day feeling cool and calm like ‘Mary Poppins’, other days when I feel overwhelmed and out of sorts I feel a little like ‘Bruce Banner’ on a stressful day. I have discovered that Motherhood = Imperfection! And while many will disagree with me when I say that imperfection is okay.  This thought is what helps me when I have 4 baskets of clothing waiting to be…

    Just a Little Hygge

Usually the start of Autumn brings that ‘sad, blah, it’s the end of Summer yuck feeling’ in the pit off my tummy, however, after an insanely intense hot summer, I don’t actually feel that sad about the new change of  season. In fact, I welcome Autumn.  At this moment,  I am looking forward to some cooler weather.  My only issue with Autumn come winter are the shorter days. Our Queensland winters aren’t really all that cold.  We might have the occasional day where we can’t get away with a t-shirt and jeans, but on the whole, we don’t have winters where we need a fireplace or central heating. This week, I…

    Goodbye 2016, Hello 2017

I can’t believe Christmas 2016 is over for another year! We had a great Christmas!  We celebrated on Christmas day with my side of the family this year.  We alternate celebrating Christmas day with our two families.  My brothers and their wives and families drove to the Coast and we all congregated at mums.   We did presents first and boy that was fun!  Paper filled the lounge room, and the squeals of delight from all the kids was wonderful to hear.  It was noisy, chaotic, and fun.   Everyone then pulled together and got food to the table for lunch. I think my favourite part of Christmas is watching…

    Happiness, Habits and Hobbies

Recently, I listened to one of my many favourite podcasts ‘Straight and Curly’ with kelly Exeter and Carly Jacobs, who were talking about how important it is to have hobbies.   At the time I was quick to react with some quick ‘I don’t have time for any hobbies!’ type of remark. And then I had a moment of feeling blue, until it suddenly occurred to me that I do in fact have hobbies! I enjoy writing on my blog and taking photos.  I also love to read, listen to podcasts and watch movies.   I like to go walking on the beach, making sandcastles with the kids, garage sales and…

    September – The Love Month

September is my favourite month of the year! Welcome to September – the month of sunshine and happiness! Our moderate-mostly-warm-Winter has gone, and Spring has come around again.  The days are becoming longer, the birds are chirping, and the flowers are starting to burst and bloom with colour.  There is a sense of excitement in the air, and I know its all because Spring has arrived.  I think the best way to describe this feeling I have is that I feel my soul is rejoicing – Spring has arrived! Its a great time of year for so many reasons. 1. Warmer Weather. Spring means the weather is warming up and jumpers can be put…

    Simplifying Life

There is a lot of talk in my group of friends about how busy our lives are.   We all have kids, a couple of mums work full time,  some work part time, some are stay at home parents, some are single mums and a few of us are married, and none of us feel as though we have enough time in the day to do anything for ourselves.   We feel rushed and reactive rather than relaxed and responsive, and I think we are the ones who will pay for the lifestyle we live now, long term. We have to learn how to slow down and enjoy the journey.…

    Mother: 4 School Aged Children

What a massive couple of months its been. The ‘back to school’ sales seemed to start a day or two after New Years Day, and I’m pretty sure I haven’t stopped running since. The rush to get the kids organised for school took longer than I expected it too. Plan A was to get the kids organised as quickly as possible so we could get back to enjoying the last few weeks of the holidays. There was no plan B.  Nonetheless, the holidays finished quicker than I felt ready for them to do so, and so here we are starting the 4th week of term one for the year.  I…

Hello 2016 – Ditch the New Years Resolutions!

Happy New Year! I think 2016 is going to be a really good year.   As per usual I found myself thinking about making some ‘New year’s Resolutions’, but this year I’m going to do something a little differently.  I have realised that for whatever reason, I am unable to follow through and complete my ‘New Year’s Resolutions’, and apparently according to Forbes.com, only 8% are able to make their new years resolutions a reality.   That means I am in the 92% that fail, which means that I don’t feel very good about myself when I think about the previous years list of resolutions. I’d rather not be apart…
