    A More Balanced Life

A number of months ago we decided to start going to church again after 10 years of not going.  We decided Calvary Christian Church would be our new home church. It probably sounds a little weird to call a church ‘home’, but Calvary isn’t new to me, and I feel that it has that homely, right place – feel to me.   I feel as though my life is more in balance when I go to church. Years ago, when I first moved to the Sunshine Coast, I started going to the church.  Back then, it was called Buderim Mountain Assembly.    I have a few friends still from that…

    Living Life Passionately

It’s funny how the topic of death makes you think a lot about life.  Well, I find it at least ‘interesting’.  When a family member or friend dies, I find I go through a time of deep self-analysis.  I think most people do!   I find myself thinking about what I believe. I also think about what my life looks like right now, what’s important to me, and what changes I would like to make?  Often, what do I want to be remembered for?  None of us know when we are going to die, or how we are going to die!   God knows, of course,  but we aren’t privileged…

    Life, ey!

Life, ey! Just when you think everything is travelling well…LIFE happens. Family Life is busy, messy, adventurous, fun, challenging, stressful, imperfect, loving and crazy. There is always a lot happening, a lot to juggle and a lot to make work – And with all this going on, parents have the responsibility of raising strong, resilient, kind, happy, and well adjusted kids into well adjusted, happy, kind, responsible adults. For many mums, our identity is wrapped up in our kids succeeding or failing in life. We feel as though we have done a great job when our kids do well, but when our kids struggle in life, it is so easy…

    Taking Stock – May 2017

Making:   I had a plan to start learning how to crochet this month, but I haven’t had a chance.   Maybe June, I will have a chance to sit down and learn.   I really want to brag and show you what our beautiful 11 year old made over the course of the last couple of months…. We are so incredibly impressed with her efforts.  She’s one of those kids who can start a project and stick with it right to the end.  Great job Nelly!  Cooking:   Lots of slow cooker meals!  This has been the month to get out the slow cooker and enjoy effortless evenings of yummy…

    Happy Mother’s Day

Its Mother’s Day on Sunday! Many mums look at their lives and analyse how they’re doing in their role as a mother. Some days I feel great about motherhood.  Other days I thank God we all survived the day!  Most days I move through the day feeling cool and calm like ‘Mary Poppins’, other days when I feel overwhelmed and out of sorts I feel a little like ‘Bruce Banner’ on a stressful day. I have discovered that Motherhood = Imperfection! And while many will disagree with me when I say that imperfection is okay.  This thought is what helps me when I have 4 baskets of clothing waiting to be…

    Taking Stock – April 2017

Another Month has come and gone!  We are travelling through 2017 far too quickly!   As much as I would love time to stand still for a moment – it can’t, and it never will.   We have to work out how to adapt and work with time!   Make time work for us instead – if you figure out how to do this, please let me know.  🙂 So here is April’s Taking Stock recount! Cooking:   Trying to do bulk meals that I can freeze at the moment.  I feel more organised when I cook in bulk.     Also healthy muesli bars for the kids. Drinking: Soda…

The Gallery of Modern Art Brisbane

Over the Easter school holidays we took the kids down to Brisbane and visited the Gallery of Modern Art.   We really loved our little adventure and wished we got down to Brisbane sooner, as there was so much to see.  I think we only just touched the surface.  There really is something for everyone.   No one will walk away disappointed.  The effort to drive down to Brisbane was so worth it!  We definitely want to go again. Next time though we will make a day of it, and make time to explore Southbank and go on one of the red ferries that travels along the Brisbane River – One of my…

    Taking Stock – March 2017

What happened to March?   Life is going far too quickly, and while I do feel we are achieving some of our goals there are a number of things we haven’t yet started.  We have just finished our first school term for 2017, and I must say that I am thrilled to now be on school holidays.   We have worked hard and now we are rewarded with time off! Feeling:  okay!  I’m thankful for health, love and good people in my life.  Blessed! Making:   My favourite rainy weather dinner is spaghetti Bol.   Yum! Buying:  A few clothes for the kids.   They keep growing! Drinking: Soda water and lemon…
